A fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Gardener to expand your knowledge with a small company based near Chelmsford.
We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard-working person to join our team that deal with private community estates , local authorities, schools and private clients.
Job Description The role is demanding but rewarding , but can be an opportunity to expand in the horticultural industry. You will need to use :
Grass cutting across site
Hedge trimming across site
Flower bed maintenance including fertilizing, weeding, watering and mulching
Maintaining irrigation systems
Tackling Pests such as Slugs/Snails
Maintain and manage grounds equipment
Maintain and manage grounds vehicles
Gritting and snow management
Leaf Blowing and Collection
Dividing and Splitting plants
Most of our machinery is now converted battery compared to petrol . This has enhanced out environment credentials and quieter working and lowered a carbon footprint.
This is a full-time role working an average of 40 hours per week over the year. You actual hours will, however, vary depending on the time of year. You will be required to be available for weekend working on a rota basis. Hours worked at the weekend will be part of your standard hours and will not be paid at an enhanced rate.
Qualifications and Experience:
Have good horticultural knowledge. RHS qualifications beneficial but not essential.
At least 2 years’ experience of working in landscaping / gardening
Hold C&G or Lantra certification for grounds equipment
Hold C&G or Lantra certification for grounds vehicles – Tractor, ride on lawn mowers and ATV’s
Hold current PA1 & PA6 AW chemical licenses
Knowledge of sports turf management beneficial but not essential
Clean driver’s license required
Tree Surgery experience is beneficial but not essential.

Applicants will ideally have practical experience in horticulture, qualifications to RHS level 2 would be desirable , and Certificates such as PA1/6 would be beneficial but not essential.
Candidates must also have a full driving licence due to the requirement of corona virus and that every employee has to drive in separate vehicles as part of the role.
You will have your own company vehicle and tools to take home with you . Company pension scheme, uniform 28 days holiday per year .
